First Barn Sale {Complete!}

As you know I was a vendor in a barn/farm sale for the first time over the weekend. Hopefully you aren’t too tired of hearing about it since I also talked about it here and here.

I was stressed out, nervous, and acting a bit nutty leading up to it. I wasn’t sure what to expect and felt completely unprepared.

Best decision I made? Sharing booth space with two amazing ladies! Debbie from Redeemed Furniture and Suzanne from Sussex Lane Studios were awesome! By the end of the day I had laughed so hard my cheeks hurt. We rented two spaces in the barn that were next to each other and mixed all of our items throughout into vignettes.

From left to right…Me, Suzanne, Debbie

So how did we keep track of everything? We each labeled our items and put each others initials as appropriate next to the item descriptions in our receipt books. It worked great!

Here’s more info about my experience…

Pros:

  • Beautiful location
  • Wonderful folks running it
  • Gorgeous day
  • Even though it was the first one, over 1300 folks attended!
  • Sold stuff

Cons:

  • It got hot in the barn
  • My back and feet hurt
  • Loading the van after the sale with the stuff I had left was less than fun

Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY! Would I want to do it by myself? No Way!

My back and feet will feel better after rest, we had a fan and a breeze for the heat, and the stuff I have left will go into shops.

In the end, it was one of the best days I’ve ever had. I met great people, enjoyed the scenery, made a little money and smiled a lot.

Thanks to all of you who came out!

Hugs,

Stephanie

I know the feeling well!! That’s how we felt when we did our first Fancy Flea last fall. And I would NEVER do that by myself. Loading, unloading, setup, selling all day, loading, unloading! I don’t think I ever did so much work, even when I was loading luggage on airplanes, come to think about it! But it was so much fun!! Your space looks awesome!! Great post.
ps….love the new look here, I have been a blogging slacker..

  4. FANTASTIC looking booth and I wish I was closer and could have come to shop!!! I have recently formed a very similar partnership with two good artist friends. IT IS AMAZING to be able to work side by side and support/lean on each other! Congrats!!!

I am friends with Suzanne…..she is such a fun person!!!

Oh that would be fun! I always hate loading up the stuff not sold at yard sales. That’s the extent of my venture into selling. I must say though that the one I had this summer was wonderful! I made great money and totally cleaned out my basement. What was left was donated to a sale to benefit a Memorial Wall for the Veterans in our county! So it was really great to just put my unsold items in boxes and call the folks to come and get them.

Looks like you all had some wonderful items. Wish we had those around here.

Glad you had such a Fab time! Hope I can come to some of your sales next year after my life is not so insane! Hopefully one will coincide with the stamping convention that comes to Greenville, I wanted to go to that last weekend!
