It’s Junkin’ Time

Well of course anytime can be junkin’ time but now is the prime time for junking, it’s Spring!

Hopefully you’re in a part of the World that is now warm enough for yard sales, flea markets, etc.

I had the pleasure of joining my friend Karli for some yard sales Saturday morning and boy did we have some fun!

My purchases include a round table, a chair, a large and a small mirror, several frames, an antique floor lamp, a couple of vintage books and a few other smalls. Oh and the metal baskets you see below are gold instead of silver. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen those! Phew, that was a haul!

Oh wait, almost forgot, I also scored two awesome ammo boxes at our last stop. One of them still has paperwork on the top from when it was REJECTED!

Karli found a few glass items for her new hobby – glass etching! I think she’s going to etch a couple items for me and don’t tell her but I’m going to blog about it when she’s done…shhhh.

Whats better, being handy/crafty yourself OR having handy/crafty friends? Hmmmm.

So, did you hit any sales over the weekend? What’s in your haul?

Don’t worry, if you hear me singing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, I’m not confused, I know it’s not Christmas.

Saturday Yard Sales

I have a problem. A big problem. It looks like this…

and this…

and this…

and yes this…

I just may have purchased all 4 of these chairs on Saturday when I visited yard sales in the area (but if you tell my husband I will deny it!).

Aren’t they great? I think my favorite is the wooden folding chair. The only thing I’ll do to that one is clean it up and then it will be good to go.

My friend Karli went to the yard sales with me and she showed me where there’s a great Salvation Army store in the area. Just after telling her “don’t let me buy any more chairs” she found the green one and twisted my arm into buying it. It’s the fun retro chair of the bunch.

I’m going to paint the other two wood chairs and yes, they’re all going to go in my booth.

Oh, and I found some other things too!

Vintage Samsonite Ladies Carry Case
Victorian hair pin holder & pins
Ethan Allen shelf/drawer, old bottle and tin measuring cup

How did you do at sales this weekend?

Yard Sale Finds

The other day I posted about the wonderful morning I spent visiting yard sales. I don’t get to do that every weekend but when I do I so enjoy it!

I finally had a chance to take pictures of my purchases. All in all I spent a total of $20 on everything you see below. How did I do?
Is this Tin-tastic!?

They used old yard sticks to create this long tray thing…
you could put on a desk and put paper clips in etc., or what ideas do you have?

Old books!

Don’t you love this old Coleman booklet?!

I love the picture and colors on this old Boy Scouts book!

So the pitcher has a chip out of the lip of it and a crack towards the top.
The basin is in good condition. I got both pieces for $5 total – Good?

These are vintage Christmas cards someone had framed!

A few more interesting items…

Love the color of the bottle on the left and
can’t you always use a little tin cup like on the right?

Do you have any good finds from last weekend?  Tell us about them in comments below!

Oh What Fun It Is To Ride

in my van to a yard sale!

So, let me first apologize that there are no pictures in this post. Sorry, I haven’t photographed everything yet but I was just so darn giddy with excitement I had to write to you all.

This morning I went out early to hit some yard sales. My trusty hairy assistant joined me. It was a bit brisk out but sunny and not a cloud to be found! Just us and the open busy road. You remember my assistant right? Ok, just one picture…

I don’t know about you but I like to have a plan, so on about Thursday I start checking Craigslist, the newspaper, and various estate sale websites to see what sales are going on for the weekend. Then I start a Word file on my computer and paste over the details from the sales I would like to visit along with directions. (I don’t have a GPS but I borrow my hubby’s if I remember). Then on Friday evening I finalize my list and put them in the order I think I’d like to visit them. I print it out and by Saturday morning I’m ready to go! (I really hope someone else does this because after writing all that I think I might be sounding a little crazy).

So, then the fun part. The first sale we visited was ok, not too much in the vintage/antique department. I did buy two little pictures for $2 though. Again, sorry no pictures yet but I will post them this week I promise!

Then on to the next sale where they really had nothing I wanted except for a large galvanized tub and alas, it was already sold.

Ok, so not a great start eh? Oh and then there was the sale we went to that evidently wasn’t really happening. No one there. No stuff out. My assistant must have typed in the wrong address or something (Note to self: need to save treats for assistant until AFTER I’m sure she’s got the right information!).

Lastly, we went to a sale in an area I had never explored before. I really should have started at this one because it said they had been accumulating things for 36 years. Again, my assistant dropped the ball on this one but we’re still learning. I knew it was going to be super ridiculously awesome when we got there and saw a huge pull behind trailer in their yard! The driveway was full, the yard was full AND the trailer was full! Lining the driveway were 7 trunks…all marked SOLD. drat. But then once I started rumaging I really hit the mother load…old books, dishes, oh you’ll just have to wait until I post pictures. I REALLY had fun.

The best part? When paying for my items I’m chatting the people up and they say “you should see what we still have left in the house!”. So I ask them if they are going to have another yard sale (please oh please say yes). They said no, but they are going to be at a local flea market the next two Saturdays! I’m THERE!

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
