Happy 4th {a little late}

Hi blogville!

I owe you all an apology. I took off on Tuesday for a cabin in the mountains and didn’t tell you. It wouldn’t have been a big deal but there was NO internet or cell service! I couldn’t even wish you all a Happy 4th!

So here I am late hoping you all have had a wonderful week!

The mountains were great. We were trying to escape the 100 degree temperatures and it worked. We spent time relaxing, swimming in the pool and visiting with family. My wonderful hubby had even arranged to have a big chocolate cake for me to celebrate my birthday early (my birthday is tomorrow, gulp).

Has anyone been to Brevard, North Carolina? This was my first time and I LOVED it. I found some great shops and took some pictures for you all – I’ll have that post up later this week.

Speaking of this week – I’ll also have a new “Bloggers Brought to Light” post. Believe me, you won’t want to miss this one! I’m spotlighting the most hilarious blogger I met at Haven! In the meantime, check out some of my previous “Bloggers Brought to Light” posts.

So what have y’all been up to? Feel free to link up your latest post in comments below so we can all catch up!

Change of Scenery

Last week we checked out of the city life and rented a cabin in the North Carolina mountains. It’s something we try to do at least once a year. If you have never been on the Blue Ridge parkway or in the Blue Ridge mountains, please do yourself a favor and make a trip! BEAUTIFUL.

I realize the main focus of this blog is JUNK but I’ve also been playing with the camera I got back at Christmas and would love to share some photos and get your feedback :-)

Warning: Image heavy post!

The first pictures are all from the Valle Crucis Community Park. It’s a GORGEOUS park (as you can see below!) behind the Mast General store in Valle Crucis, NC.

My assistant, Chance, cooling off!

Here’s a picture of the  sign in front of the original Mast General Store which has been there since 1883.

We also ventured into Blowing Rock, NC one day. Blowing Rock has a quaint downtown with tons of shops, restaurants and fun.

I found this cool mobile in one of the shops (my apologies to the stores, I was working to make sure my 4-yr-old didn’t touch anything AND take pictures but did not manage to write shop names down! sorry!).

Outside the same shop they had this cool “shelter” built out of shutters, windows and a screen door! love it.

Further down the road in Blowing Rock I found a nice antique store with many treasures. Amongst them was this cool ottoman…

More wooden shoe molds (I’m telling you, these things are following me everywhere!)…

A Union Jack storage chest…

And where have I seen the & on a pillow before? Oh right, I made one here!

At another store, I spotted this and had to know more about it. It’s made out of the metal rings found on wine barrels! Genius repurposing into a sculpture!

And now we’ll waltz into the sunset..ooooh ahhhh….

Phew, ok, that was a lot of pictures. Thanks for making it all the way to the end!

Vacation Magic

Hi blog buds!

I’m back from vacation…you know how it is, happy to be home, depressed that it is over. We took our 4-year-old on a surprise trip to Disney. We had a BLAST. Side note – I grew up not far from Disney and have been there several times as an adult. If anyone ever has questions about taking a trip there, feel free to email me!

I’ve been reading all your comments and promise to respond to all of them soon. I need to spend time today getting some additional items ready for my booth and head over there to check on things. Fingers crossed that I sold something while I was gone!

Now, what is new with all of you?
