Dried Flowers {the hunt for lavender}

Anyone else have Fall fever? I hate the heat y’all! It’s one of the main reasons we will never (fingers crossed) live in Florida again. Even though I still live in the South, I’m now in an area that has actual seasons and I love it!

Fall is a favorite…cooler days, leaves changing, football and the promise of wonderful holidays coming soon!

When we were on vacation in the mountains a few weeks ago I scored a couple of cool holders made out of real trees. However, you can’t really use them as real vases with water in them so what to do?

I felt like it was a bit early to put the Fall wreath on the door so perhaps a Summer/Fall compromise is in order? Yep, that’s where the dried flowers idea came in!

Here’s where we’re going to take a small tangent and talk about lavender for a moment…I’ve been on the lookout for dried lavender for a while. Our Michael’s used to have it but no more. I would love to buy it locally but the one farm I found couldn’t sell me a large amount of dried buds (I’d really like to have a bin of them for the barn sale I’m participating in in a few weeks). So what happened this morning? I went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s and there it was – bundles of dried lavender! Man I love Trader Joe’s…

So here we are back trying to figure out how I want to fill the wood containers I purchased. I ended up finding some dried flowers at Michaels and combined it with the lavender…

What do you think?

Hugs,

Stephanie

Garden Tour Anyone?

I had the opportunity this past Friday to join my in-laws on the Greenville Council of Garden Club’s Spring garden tour.

I had never been on a tour like it before and it was a fantastic experience!

I was excited to see some “junking/repurposing” elements in the gardens.

Take a look at the photos below for a bit of the tour!

Love the mirror on this porch, lots of architectural interest!

Great old table.

Repurpose an old frame for display on a fence!

Another way to repurpose an old window or mirror.

Old rusty urn looks fabulous in the garden

I was never sure if I liked bottle trees but
now I’m sure I DO!

Great rusty piece to add interest in the garden.

This wall/fence on the deck is made of old shutters!

Broken pot? Don’t throw it away! Simply lay it on it’s side!

Great architectural piece topped with
moss & plants for the center of the garden table

Porch furniture retro style

You could easily do this with old bottles / jars.
These were simply tied to sticks and stuck in the ground!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the garden tour! So many ideas, so little time right?

Do you use “junk” or repurposed items in your garden? I would love to hear about it!

Just a Quick Hi

Hi y’all -

Just a quick post today to say hi and send you all some sunshine. For those of you still buried in snow and cold weather, here’s a little something from my garden…

I’m very busy fixing up my finds from the weekend and prepping for my booth opening in a couple of weeks. I’ll be back tomorrow with a before / after of one of my finds.

Have a great day!

Winter Inspiration

For something different, I thought we could step outside today and I’ll share some pictures of our garden in Winter. Yes, even in Winter, without snow, you can find beautiful things in a garden! Enjoy!

Stay warm and have a great day!
