A while back I shared this with you…
I bought it at our Habitat for Humanity Restore for a couple bucks. Not sure if you can tell (because it’s laying on my stone patio in that picture) but it’s just the frame, nothing on the inside.
So it took me a while to decide what to do with it.
First, it had some minor cracking in a couple corners so I filled those with wood glue and sanded them until smooth.
I then went to work painting it with my new favorite Annie Sloan chalk paint! I covered it with Emile (it’s a purple color) and then covered it with Paris Gray. I layered on some clear wax and then sanded it in some areas to distress.
Next I stapled chicken wire to the back. I was worried about having any sharp wires sticking out so then I covered the chicken wire with burlap I fortunately already had on hand!
What do you think?
Don’t you just love the color of that burlap?
I might try this, by Funky Junk Interiors, sometime in the future. I really like the idea of the string.
