Before & After #7

A while back I shared this with you…

I bought it at our Habitat for Humanity Restore for a couple bucks. Not sure if you can tell (because it’s laying on my stone patio in that picture) but it’s just the frame, nothing on the inside.

So it took me a while to decide what to do with it.

First, it had some minor cracking in a couple corners so I filled those with wood glue and sanded them until smooth.

I then went to work painting it with my new favorite Annie Sloan chalk paint! I covered it with Emile (it’s a purple color) and then covered it with Paris Gray. I layered on some clear wax and then sanded it in some areas to distress.

Next I stapled chicken wire to the back. I was worried about having any sharp wires sticking out so then I covered the chicken wire with burlap I fortunately already had on hand!

What do you think?

Don’t you just love the color of that burlap?

I might try this, by Funky Junk Interiors, sometime in the future. I really like the idea of the string.

Have you made a bulletin board like this before? Feel free to link to your ideas in the comments below!

Before & After #6

Anyone remember this chair?

I found it at a yard sale back in March for cheap.

Well…drum roll please! Here’s the “after”…

Isn’t she cute? Kudos to my friend Karli for making the pillow for me!

The chair and pillow are both now in my booth. Have I mentioned lately how much I love chairs? and my booth? :-)

How to info – Just as I did the side table, I sanded this lightly and then painted with Krylon Classic Gray. It’s topped off with a light coat of water-based poly.

Before & After #5

I purchased this a couple weeks ago at our Habitat for Humanity Restore…

It had that speckled wood look (it there a name for that?). But it was in VERY good condition, hardly used. Plus I liked the detail on the drawer.

Now it looks like this…

Dropped it off in my booth yesterday!

What do you think?

How To Info – After sanding down lightly, I primed and then used Krylon Classic Gray. The new knob is from Hobby Lobby (50% off sale!).
