New Blogaholic Network

Just a quick note to let you know about a new blog network I just learned about this week. It’s the Blogaholic Social Network.

Here’s what it says…

Blogaholic Network is a community where bloggers can connect to seek and share resources, knowledge, guidance, and ideas about blogging.

Here you can learn and/ or share how to make a great blog, share what has helped you in your blogging journey, find and post about blog events and blog hops, gain followers, and so much more!

Best of all you can connect with other bloggers who blog about the same topics that you do!

I think it’s a cool idea! So…I just started a group on the site called ILOVEJUNK! It’s for those of us that love junking/antiquing/repurposing, etc. I would love it if you would join me over there! It’s a place where we can post discussions about what we find, ask questions, and more! Here’s a link – http://www.blogaholicnetwork.com/group/ilovejunk

Let me know if you check it out! Happy blogging :-)

Antique Trippin Around Town

I had a chance to explore a couple of antique stores/malls the other day in a rare few hours of alone time. I mentioned in an earlier post that I am exploring the possibility of getting my own booth. Make sure you head on over to that post and sound off.
Now back to the shopping…one of the places I checked out was Antiques on Augusta here in Greenville, SC. Barb over at Knack has a booth there (picture of her booth below). The shop had so much to see – it was very nicely laid out and well staged.  I did make a few purchases and will share those later but for now, let’s take a tour around the shop.

Love these bottles!

Antique hat boxes

Lots of old books

I am digging that chippy crate!

So many great painted pieces in this booth.

So what did I buy? Stay tuned…

What Are You Reading?

You’re probably wondering why I’m asking about books on a junk blog right? This isn’t a book club after all. But…wanna hear the good news?

Just because you stop your junking/antiquing/decorating to read a book, doesn’t mean you have to stop thinking about junking/antiquing/decorating!

No, I haven’t lost my mind. No, I’m not assuming you can do multiple things at once. I’m saying you can READ about junking/antiquing/decorating! After all, if you’re gonna read, you might as well read about what you love, right?!

One of my favorite authors is Mary Kay Andrews. She has written several fiction titles, but my favorites – Savannah Blues and Savannah Breeze - include an awesome character named Weezie who – get this – loves antiques and junking! (I know, gives you goose bumps right?!) There are also decorating / renovating themes in some of her other books. Mary Kay has her own blog where she discusses her latest works and her own junking trips.

For non-fiction, I’m currently reading “Garage Sale America” by Bruce Littlefield. Great book that shows scenes and stories from garage sales plus some tips along the way.

But then I went to the library the other day and got a little carried away. See…

Looks like I am going to be reading a lot this week! Are any of these familiar to you?

What’s on your bookcase that you love? What are you reading now?
