Free Day at the Farm {MB Demos}

I’m participating in a very cool event in May that I’m excited to share with you!

Remember last year when I participated in the Farm Fair at Rabon Creek Farm? It was a wonderful day and such a beautiful setting. They are doing the event again this September – more about that soon!

I will be there May 11th with my Painted Poppies business partner Debbie Dather and two other vendors. We’ll all be doing free demos from 10a-1p! Here’s how it will work: Each vendor will do the same demo every hour for 3 hours (see exact times below) so you can rotate and take part in each demonstration!

What: Demos, makes & takes, and Q&A with 3 local vendors

Where: Rabon Creek Farm, 124 Phillips Lane, Fountain Inn, SC

When: May 11, 10a-1p (demo times vary, see each listing below)

A little more about the vendors and demos:

Painted Poppies (that’s us!): We will be demonstrating the Maison Blanche La Craie paint and answering all of your paint questions! Make & take projects available (prices vary). Demos at 10:15a, 11:15a and 12:15p.

LeBrun Designs: LeBrun Designs is a Landscape Design company who has a slight obsession for Potted Gardens and succulent plants. Donna will be on hand share her potted gardens expertise. You provide the pot and plant (prices will vary) and she’ll provide the rest! Demos at 10a, 11a, and 12p.

Karisma by Kara: Owner Kara Mavar makes beautiful handmade jewelry using materials like aluminum and copper wire! She will be on hand at the farm to do demonstrations and make initial rings on the spot for customers! Demos at 10:30a, 11:30a, and 12:30p.

Note: Cash and Checks accepted. Credit card availability depends on internet connectivity (did we mention we’ll be on a FARM!).

We would love it if you’d join us! RSVPing is not required but to help us ensure we have enough supplies on hand, we’d appreciate it if you’d reply to our Facebook invite here.

Please share with your friends!

Hugs,

Stephanie

Announcement {Part One}

So a little while back I teased you by saying I had some things up my sleeve…

Well, it’s time I announced ONE of them.

I am partnering with my good friends Debbie Dather and Suzanne Gambino to create a new company – Painted Poppies, LLC!Painted Poppies

We are in the process of moving into a space at Palmetto Home & Garden here in Greenville, SC and could not be more excited! We’ll be selling hand-painted furniture, vintage items,  home décor and MORE!

So calling one and all in the Greenville area – please (said with a bit of desperation!) come check us out! The fine folks at Palmetto Home & Garden will be happy to point you in the right direction (when you enter, if you follow the main path left and then right towards the back of the store you will run right into us).

Not in the Greenville area? Don’t fret! Our new website is in the works and it will feature an online shop! Woot Woot!

Here’s a bit more about my pals…

  • Debbie Dather owns Redeemed Furniture. She is a furniture painter extraordinaire and tackles something I’m too afraid to do – custom painting!
  • Suzanne Gambino owns Sussex Lane Studio. She is also a wonderful furniture painter but in addition to that she creates gorgeous mixed media art pieces!

Can You Hear It {Chirp Chirp Chirp}

Can you hear it? Yep, my blog is so quiet you can hear birds chirping. LOL

I just wanted you to know I’m here. I’m alive. I’m well.

I have big stuff going on…but I’m afraid I can’t say exactly WHAT yet…

Soon, very soon I promise!

No, I’m no pregnant. Nope, didn’t win the lottery. Oh no, didn’t get selected for my own reality pickers series either. Not quite as big as any of those things! But still in my world, it’s big. So stay nearby ok? Don’t venture too far!

Love,

Stephanie

Where to Look for Help {blogging & business tips}

Hi everyone!

I’ve missed you so much! As I mentioned in an earlier post, I’ve taken a bit of time off. Trying to make sure I have things prioritized correctly, spending time with the family over the holidays etc. Oh and last week we took off and went to Disney World! Nothing like a week with the mouse to make you feel good again. :-)

I had coffee with a wonderful friend this morning and one of our topics of discussion was the wealth of knowledge out there that folks that have “been there before us” have and fortunately some of those folks are willing to share it. It inspired me a bit and I started going through some of my lists – my “go to” sites for information. It occurred to me that it might be a good list to share…

So, without further adieu, here are a few links I have found helpful with either blogging, starting a business or both!

Who are your favorite go to gals or sites for help and information? Please share in the comments!

Talk to y’all soon,

Stephanie

It’s Time to Talk

Hi everyone! I’ve missed you all so much!

I figured it was high time I wrote and explained my absence from this blog so here goes nothing…

I never intended to take a break. You know how it goes right? Life happens, and then happens again and the next thing you know you haven’t blogged in a month. I have plenty of excuses – lots of family in town for Thanksgiving, I hit a deer with my car and had to buy a new car, busy preparing for Christmas, out of town for work. You name it!

It really comes down to this though – sometimes, we all need to check our priorities and make sure we have them in line. It was time for me to do that. I love this blog and my business so much! However, if I have to choose between reading my son a story or working on a blog post, my son will win every time (as he should!).

The truth is, the longer I was gone the harder it was to come back. Not because I didn’t want to but because I didn’t know what to say. After all, everyone is busy. Everyone has their own “stuff” going on…I didn’t want anyone to think I thought my stuff was bigger or more important. Plenty of folks figure out how to balance all of this…so I guess the reality is, I’m not as good at balancing it as others! I’m trying to learn, trying to figure this all out.

I hope you all understand and will come around as I post. Please know that I am here, I still love junk, I still love you all, and I’m trying to make this all work.
